Stenna The Hide Spa

New build

Hotel / Hospitality

On the second floor of the Stenna Centre, directly above the Hide Hotel, which opened at the end of 2018, a spa and wellness area covering around 1,000 square metres has been created, which is open to both hotel guests and external visitors. As the hotel was already in operation at the time, the entire project had to be planned and carried out whilst the hotel remained open, presenting a particular challenge in terms of construction scheduling, noise control, and logistics within an actively used building.

In terms of design, the spa consistently continues the Hide Hotel’s design language: The interior draws inspiration from the crystalline geodes that characterise this corner of the Grisons Alps with their tectonic structure and are protected as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In collaboration with the interior designers commissioned for the hotel and spa interiors, this idea was translated into a clearly structured sequence of spaces that combines alpine ruggedness with a calm, warmer wellness atmosphere.

Facilities include a modern fitness room, a Finnish panoramic sauna with views of the Flims mountain landscape, a steam room, a sanarium, rain showers, and a separate relaxation room. The offering is complemented by a private spa area designed for two people, perfect for special moments together, as well as a terrace for the warmer months. The building services, in particular the ventilation of the individual sauna and wet areas, were specifically tailored to the varying climatic requirements of each zone.

Our task was to work with the interior designers to take charge of the detailed design and site supervision for the interior fit-out within the existing Stenna Centre building, thereby ensuring the design concept was implemented on schedule despite the challenging conditions posed by the hotel’s ongoing operations. Upon its opening, the spa added another publicly accessible facility to the Hide Hotel, cementing its role as an independent anchor within the larger Stenna complex.
